The Birthplace of Yoga

In my recent experience of doing morning yoga sessions in India (the birthplace of yoga) with Ms. Deepika Atwal, a state gold medalist in yoga, I was introduced to a truly remarkable practice that left a lasting impression. The sessions took place in a serene park in Delhi, where the gentle rustling of leaves and the occasional sight of monkeys swinging overhead in the trees created a harmonious backdrop. As we settled into our positions, a light drizzle of rain began to fall, adding a touch of tranquility to the atmosphere. It was in this unique setting that I discovered the beautiful paradox of India— a country known for its fast pace and hectic lifestyle, yet filled with people who possess an inner peace and mindfulness.

The yoga sessions with Ms. Deepika Atwal were a transformative experience. Her expertise and passion for yoga were evident from the moment she started guiding us through the poses. With each movement, she emphasized the importance of connecting with our breath and being fully present in the moment. It was clear that yoga was not just a physical exercise for her, but a way of life.

Although India is often associated with its bustling cities and vibrant chaos, there exists a remarkable inner peace that permeates the country. It is a place where ancient traditions and modern aspirations coexist, creating a unique blend of spirituality and ambition. Through my interactions with the locals, I discovered a sense of mindfulness and contentment that is deeply ingrained in their culture.

The monkeys swinging overhead served as a gentle reminder of the connection between humans and nature. They seemed to effortlessly navigate the trees, embodying a sense of playfulness and freedom that we often forget in our busy lives. India, with its rich spiritual heritage, has long recognized the importance of this connection, and yoga is just one of the ways in which it is embraced.

As the first yoga session drew to a close, I felt a sense of tranquility and rejuvenation wash over me. The combination of practicing yoga in such a serene setting, guided by the expertise of Ms. Deepika Atwal, allowed me to tap into a deeper level of mindfulness and self-awareness. It was a reminder that amidst the chaos of everyday life, finding moments of stillness and inner peace is essential for our overall well-being.
